The PLC of Yokogawa FA-M3 is a next-generation open controller architecture. It provides higher functionality in a slim form. Nevertheless, the difference between FA-M3 and traditional PLC is the "I/O open" feature. This flexible feature of I/O allows us to build new modules for FA-M3 PLCs. Generally, when an external tool that does not conform to the PLC specification is linked to the PLC, an external control unit is required. Since FA-M3 allows customization for each module manufacturer, it is very possible to connect FA-M3 with external tools without the need for an external mastering unit. The company also implements I/O open design rules for SERCOS I/F modules. The FA-M3 PLC configuration diagram includes the development part.
